The XUV500 was among the few cars that were able to register an uptrend in their sales towards the end of 2013. When even cars that were moving heavy volumes such as the Duster and Ecosport had falling sales, the XUV500 maintained its rate. With this new version, on display at Auto Expo 2014, the car is sure to be a more enticing prospect for potential buyers. The electric motor ensures low-speed assistance. Fuel economy is also going to be a big selling point.

Mahindra has certainly upped its game with the new XUV500. It will be interesting to see how the Indian market responds to the diesel-hybrid powerplant.
