during the bmw x3's launch event in pune, we had a word with mr andreas schaaf, the managing director of bmw india, about the possibility of the bmw 1 series being launched in india. at that time, mr schaaf told us that bmw india was undecided about bringing the 1 series to india although he cannot rule out a launch of the bmw 1 series in future. based on bmw india's past and present strategy, we think that the automaker will most probably bring the 1 series to india at a time when rivals like mercedes benz and audi bring their own entry level models. this could happen sometime after 2012.
