The third act is finally in India! Yamaha have officially launched the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 in India at a price of Rs 1.25 lakhs (ex-showroom).
We needn’t say much about the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 as it has been covered in much detail over the past months. The bike was already launched in Indonesia giving a pretty good idea of the updates Yamaha are bringing for the latest iteration of the Yamaha R15.
The fairing of the new Yamaha R15 is R1 inspired with LED lights all around, both at the front headlights and rear ones. Coming straight to the heart of the matter, the new Yamaha R15 is powered by a 155cc engine that’s liquid cooled and gives out 19.3 bhp at 10,000 rpm.
Yamaha have used forged aluminium pistons which should keep things light and also make the engine more eager to touch that rev line. A slipper clutch is also included so the new Yamaha R15 is a safer bike to ride and won’t catch out novice riders.
Yamaha have also updated the instrument console to an all-digital one which might be a put off for some. Being greeted by a large analogue rev counter is one of the little pleasures of life! There is a USB charging port for some practicality.
Handling is a key aspect of a Yamaha R15 and the new bike has an updated Deltabox frame and 100/80 17 (front) and 140/70 17 (rear) tubeless tyres as rubber options. The international Yamaha R15 Version 3.0 is available with upside down forks at the front, but it was deemed too expensive for India and we are getting 41mm telescopic forks. Disc brakes are offered all around and there was no talk of ABS at launch.
The new Yamaha R15 V3.0 gets slight upgrades all around and the pricing also reflects that with a slight hike over the outgoing model.
So does the Yamaha R15 V3.0 tickle your pickle? Or was Yamaha too late to the party?

Too lazy to type anything, so re quoting from the best F1 driver in the world:
“On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.”
