Nissan India is all set to launch the new Micra hatchback in India on June 2nd, 2017. The Micra to be launched will be a minor facelift of the outgoing model. There was some initial report that the new Micra to be launched is the 2017 Micra that was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show last year.
The facelifted Nissan Micra will come with minor changes on the exteriors, a couple of added features and with the same set of engines. The exteriors, for instance, will come with LED Day Time Running lights and few other changes like redesigned bumper and tail lights. The new generation Nissan Micra the first in Nissan’s B-segment line-up to offer such an extensive set of advanced safety features, available across all grades, bringing Nissan Intelligent Driving to life. Usually found in larger cars, available technologies include Lane Departure Prevention, a segment first.
Intelligent Emergency Braking with pedestrian recognition, a first for Nissan vehicles in Europe, as well as Intelligent Around View Monitor, Traffic Sign Recognition, High Beam Assist and Blind Spot Warning. Together, these advanced safety features are the building blocks for Autonomous Driving and are an integral part of Nissan Intelligent Mobility.
In terms of features, expect a new infotainment system with connected apps and navigation. The Nissan Micra is currently offered with a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 77 PS at 6,000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm and a 1.5-litre diesel engine that develops 64 PS at 4,000 rpm and 160 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. The petrol engine is paired optionally to a continuously variable transmission, while the diesel model gets a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. Fuel economy is rated at 19.34 km/l (petrol)/23.08 km/l (diesel).
Once launched, the new Micra will compete against the likes of Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Expect a price close to Rs 6 lakhs for the base version and going all the way up to Rs 10 Lakhs.
