Automobilia Lamborghini today launched the Lamborghini Urus in India for a price of INR 3 crore (ex-showroom). The Lamborghini Urus is the third model from the manufacturer in the country.
With a 650 horsepower twin-turbo V8, the Urus will be the fastest SUV in the world. Its top speed of 305 km/h beats the Bentley Bentayga by a crucial few digits, and its 3.6-second sprint from 0-100 kmph means it’ll be able to keep up with all but the most exotic machines on the road. Carbon ceramic disc brakes (front: 440 mm x 40 mm, rear: 370 mm x 30 mm) provide the stopping power.
The Turbocharged V8 engine is the first turbocharged engine used by Lamborgini in its whole history. It gets an 8-speed torque converter transmission and also features central torsional differential 4 Wheel Drive with torque vectoring rear differential. There are six driving modes to choose from: Strada, Sport, Corsa, Neve (snow), Terra (off-road) and Sabbia (sand). In addition, there’s a customizable EGO mode too.
The Lamborghini Urus measures 5,112 mm in length, 2,016 mm in width and 1,638 mm in height. It has a 3,003 mm wheelbase. Its ground clearance is adjustable via an air suspension and it varies from 158 mm to 248 mm. The fast car also gets adaptive suspension system that can adjust according to the needs. It can be set-up for track or rough road surfaces. The 21-inch alloy wheels are standard and Lamborghini also offers the 23-inch optional upgrade of the alloy wheels.
Equipment highlights of the Urus include LED headlights with the signature Y motif, 23-inch wheels, Y-motif LED tail lights, rear diffuser with integrated double round exhaust pipes, head-up display, fully digital instrument cluster, dual central display setup with one screen for the infotainment system and one for the comfort functions, 18-way electric front seats with ventilation and massage functions, two-seat rear layout and a 1,700-watt, 21-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.
A plug-in hybrid Lamborghini Urus will arrive at a later date, but there are absolutely no plans for a diesel Lamborghini Urus, or any diesel Lamborghini for that matter. It’s unknown whether the electrified variant will arrive in India or not.
With the Urus, Lamborghini expects its sales to grow by 2.5-3 times in India. Deliveries of the new high-performance SUV will commence in May this year. If you’re planning to buy one, you will not be able to do so in 2018 as all the units allocated for the Indian market are sold out. The next allocation will be for the 2019 year. Dealers have started taking bookings for the next lot already.
