Harley Davidson opens India’s first Flat Track Racing experience centre

Harley-Davidson Motorcycles continuing their heritage of flat track racing has launched first of its kind flat track racing facility in India. The new facility has been up at John Singh Speedway in Shahpura, near Jaipur, Rajasthan. The inaugural event was led by International Flat Track legend, Marco Belli. The two days event concluded with course training and masterclass that was conducted by a group of enthusiasts. The classes revolved around flat track racing lessons in the classroom as well as practical instructions on how to handle and corner a bike in the dirt.

Peter MacKenzie, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India and China, said – “Marco Belli has a long-standing association with Harley-Davidson and we’re extremely happy to have him lead the first Harley-Davidson Flat Track experience in India. With this endeavour, we wish to garner more acceptance for the sport, encourage the setting-up of amateur flat tracks in the country and continue to fulfil dreams of personal freedom through riding experiences and events curated for like-minded individuals,”

The event conducted for the group majorly consisted Flat Track racing and training sessions. The second day was much more adventurous and saw a thrilling racing experience between the participants. The legendary rider trained the participants and taught them new techniques for handling the motorcycle on loose surfaces like sand.

Handling the motorcycle on the loose surfaces like sand and gravel is quite challenging. The motorcycle shifts its weight in the loose surfaces and it becomes quite difficult to handle the motorcycle properly. Making the enthusiasts learn about the proper technique of handling motorcycles on such surfaces can be like life-saving lessons, especially if they are on heavy motorcycles. This one of its kind event organised by Harley-Davidson, which will help a lot of enthusiasts.

Flat Track racing is another level of riding on loose surfaces. It requires good technique and control over the motorcycles. Harley-Davidson India fielded five modified Street Rod motorcycles that were customised by Jaipur based motorcycle custom work facility Rajputana Customs. The bikes were modified with customised handlebars, seat units, fuel tank, exhaust, better tyres and aftermarket rims to meet the requirement of Flat Track Racing.
