2010 Union Budget Blues: Motor vehicles get dearer
While this isn’t breaking news, you’ll have to shell out a little extra for your dream set of wheels as the 2010 Union budget sees an excise duty hike.
This move, which was largely anticipated is expected to result in manufacturers hiking the prices by about 2% in line with the excise duty hike. As of now Maruti, Fiat and Hyundai have issued statements that they are all set to effect the price hike ranging from INR 6,000-25,000 across their model portfolios.
Other manufacturers including two wheeler majors like Hero Honda and Bajaj Auto too may follow suit and make their price hike plans clear in the coming days.
This price hike isn’t expected to impact sales in a significant way as a majority of car, truck and two wheeler buyers were prepared, and to a certain extent braced up and ready to shell out extra money for their favorite set of wheels.
