2010 F1 Championship: Karun Chandhok in, finally!
Karun Chandhok
Sometime ago, we brought you some dope about Karun Chandhok just about to bag an F1 seat in the Hispania Racing Team. Finally we have some concrete news confirming his participation in the 2010 F1 Championship with HRT, which weeks ago was called Campos Racing. Alongside Karun, another Senna will be scorching race tracks across the F1 circuit in 2010, decades after the legendary, late Ayrton Senna. We’re talking about Bruno Senna, Ayrton’s nephew, who so far has earned his spurs quite well in the GP2 championship. Meanwhile, here’s what Colin Colles, Hispania F1 Racing Team(formerly Campos Racing) had to say about Karun’s pariticipation.
I am very pleased to use the Murcia site to officially unveil our car livery today. We also complete the driver’s team line-up with the Indian Karun Chandhok at the wheel of the car for our first ever season. We have been very impressed with Karun’s performance in GP2. India is a great country. It will be great for the sport to have an Indian driver on the grid for the first Indian Grand Prix. Murcia is part of the roots of the team.
This makes Karun Chandhok the second Indian to hit the F1 circuit as a driver. Let’s hope he manages at least a podium finish in the 2010 F1 season. For, hearing the Indian national anthem reverberating at the post race presentation ceremony is a deep desire burning within a whole load of avid Indian F1 fans.
