2010 Moscow Motor Show: Review

Land Rover Freelander

Major auto manufacturers converged upon Moscow this weekend for the annual Moscow Motor Show 2010. BMW had the largest display of cars and was joined by its German counterparts, Volkswagen and Audi. Although, the response from the industry was rather subdued, most of the European big players did turn up. However, no major international debuts made the headlines. Audi showcased the latest A7 at a pre-event party but, for some reason refrained themselves from showing it to the public at the Expo.

Land Rover Freelander Interior

Land Rover launched its new Freelander which was probably the biggest debut of the show. The car has a fresh feel t0 the interior with better quality materials which is more Range Rover-esque.

BMW Vision ED Concep

BMW had most of the cars from its line-up on display including a few concepts. The X6 xDrive 40d, Vision ED Concept and the Gran Coupe were also on display.

Volkswagen Vento

Volkswagen showcased the Polo Sedan (Vento) specially built for Russia. Based on the Polo platform, it is the same car that debuted in India but this one will be built in Russia with modifications to cope with local conditions.

Ford Focus Hatchback

Ford displayed its new Focus hatchback as well as the estate version. The new Mondeo was also on display.

Renault Latitude

Other debuts included the ‘made in Korea’, Renault Latitude saloon. Renault also had its Fluence electric concept on display. Peugeot also showcased its iON concept.

Lada R90

Lada had three cars on display including the 4×4, Priora sedan and a seven-seat R90 which will debut in 2012.

The show had the presence of major chinese auto manufacturers as well. Most anticipated launches however did not make the headlines. Obviously, the up-coming Paris and Frankfurt auto shows will be the prefered target.
