Tata Nano Car to Cry When It Hurts
Tata Nano Green Color Car at Auto Expo 2010
Tata’s love-it-or-hate-it Smart car competitor, the Nano will soon be able to send an SOS in case of an emergency. This city runabout with a roof will see the installation of an embedded mobile SIM card inside it which will be able to send out data, either voice or a written text, regarding the location, speed, impact and number of people to a helpline, based on the machine-to-machine (M2M) communication technology.
Swedish M2M communication specialists Telenor Connexions (operating in India as Uninor), were chosen for this Nano accessory.
Mr. Lindberg, the global business development executive at Telenor Connexion said, “The information is sent automatically in case the car meets with an accident, so that help can reach the passengers in time without depending on any human interface”.
Reputed manufacturers of the safest (and often boring) cars, Volvo and German giant, Diamler are said to be already using this technology in their cars. India’s electric car for the world, the Reva, (a.k.a G-wiz in other markets), are also looking at incorporating this technology.
The Nano’s British step brothers, the Jaguar and the Land Rovers are also slated to embed this SIM.
Small wonder then, how expensive is this going to make the Rs. 1 lakh car?
