With successful reviews flagging the SLS-AMG, Mercedes-Benz seems to take hints off the SLS design and incorporate it its F800 concept. The F800 is Mercedes’ concept show car for this week’s Geneva Motor Show. The car is said to pack a mean green punch and will probably replace the CLS and/or the CLC during sometime in 2013.

The F800 clearly has the SLS DNA in its design. Under the skin lies Mercedes’ new green drivetrain. The F800 is powered by a plug-in hybrid which matches a 300bhp, 3.0-litre V6 to a 109bhp electric motor integrated into the seven-speed gearbox and drawing power from a lithium ion battery. The F800 is predicted to manage an impressive 120 kph and a distance of 19 miles in electric-only mode.

When the petrol heart starts beating, things get more blurry through the windows: 0-100kph in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 kph. All this, with a combined efficiency of 97 mpg!

The F800 is future-proof thanks to Mercedes’ flexible new ‘MFA’ architecture. This platform supports a range of wheelbases and configurations including a fuel-cell power-train. Through the sliding doors, things get cleverer on the inside. A touch-screen central console controls the car’s on-board entertainment, similar to the Audi A8.

Overall, the design is not bad direction but it’s a bit fat no? leave your thoughts..
