2011 Porsche Cayenne to debut in India this month

The second half of July will bear witness to the arrival of the 2011 version of the Porsche Cayenne with five engine variants and a slightly higher price tag. Porsche has taken it upon themselves to make the Cayenne bashers retract their statement that the Cayenne isn’t a looker. The effort shows in the new version.

With a more chiselled look supplemented by a refreshed front end, the Cayenne now looks very much like its family members. The Cayenne has also turned out to be more spacious and larger post the revision. The time at the gym was well-spent with a weight reduction of 200kgs even after the increase in dimensions.

Coming to the engine options, the fun starts with a 3.6 litre V6 that produces a potent 300 bhp. A V6 diesel with 240 bhp on tap is meant for those who prefer the denser fuel over petrol. A hybrid version will make its India debut along with the gang. Based on the V6 petrol engine the hybrid Cayenne doesn’t disappoint with 380 bhp on speed dial. Now let’s turn to the big boys – Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo. Powered by a naturally aspirated motor, the S belts out 400 bhp while its turbocharged brother gets to splurge all of 500 bhp on the tarmac. The six-speed gearbox is replaced by an eight-speed tiptronic unit which will do the most demanding job of transferring all the power to the wheels.

Price tags, just in case you were about to break the piggy bank, start at Rs. 65 lakhs and tops off at Rs. 1.27 crores. There you go, we just extended the lifespan of your piggy bank.
