The 2012 Suzuki Swift Sport will be coming to Frankfurt later next month. Suzuki has made an official announcement regarding this saying that the new Swift Sport will be launched at the Frankfurt auto show in September. As we all know, the Swift Sport is a hotter version of the three-door hatchback. The car sports different design elements which set it apart from the standard Suzuki Swift all of which are aimed at keeping up with the ‘Sport’ tag associated with the car.
Little is known about the engine specifications of the Swift Sport but it is believed that the new model will get a newly developed 1.6 litre M16A engine which will be unique to the new sport hatchback. The new power plan could churn out 134 horsepower and 160 torques. Suzuki has also been at work developing a new six-speed transmission for the new Suzuki Swift Sport. The new Swift Sport is aimed at the more keen drivers who like a car with sharp, crisp handling characteristics.

Suzuki promises the new Swift Sport to be a brilliant handling machine which likes going around corners. The new Swift Sport also gets improved suspension with a unique rear suspension setup. As far as the exterior of the car is concerned, the new sporty hatchback will be based along the lines of the Swift S Concept that was showcased earlier. Bigger wheels, a rear spoiler and aggressive body cladding is expected to be included in the package.
Back home, Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Swift on August 17. The Swift Sport though won’t make it to India. The reasons for this are simple. First of all, the Sport will be a three-door. The Indian market has history of not tolerating three-door small cars. Maruti did try its luck once though, with the special edition models of the Zen called Carbon and Steel. Of course, those enthusiasts among you would love to own this car and being a Maruti, it might even sell in small numbers, who knows.
