2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be an all-new car based on company’s new HEARTEC platform. Launching tomorrow.
Ditching India’s one of the most successful badge – Swift, from its name is a move bold enough to explain the success the Dzire – the compact sedan. Jumping into the Tata Motors’ brainchild segment of a compact sedan, Maruti launched Swift Dzire few years ago. Adding a boot, ignore how quirky looking it was, to India’s most popular B2 segment hatch did wonders for the brand. Ever since its launch, Swift Dzire consistently remained the podium finisher in sales figure competition. Now to take things further and better the past issues, 2017 Dzire will be launched tomorrow. As obvious, various leaks and spy shots started pouring in as launch date inched closer, here we bring the compilation of all that information.
The latest leaked brochure has finally confirmed that the all new Dzire will be the most fuel-efficient car developed in India. Yes! banking on to company’s evergreen USP – the exceptional fuel efficiency figures, this new offering will come with an ARAI certified efficiency figure of 28.4 km/l. The national diesel engine – 1.3 L, DDiS engine, will churn out this magical figure.
Petrol mill would continue to be the 1.2-liter VVT unit and will also boast higher efficiency figure of 22 km/l.
Being a standard Maruti offering, the Dzire will come in LXi/LDi, VXi/VDi, ZXi/ZDi and range-topping ZXi+/ZDi+ variants. Unlike the previous gen offering, LXi/LDi variants will be generously equipped and will come with LED combination tail lamp, dual tone interiors, info-rich Multi-Information Display. tilt adjustable steering and manual AC with pollen filter. But most noteworthy inclusions are the safety features like ABS, EBD, dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, seat belt pre-tensioners with load limiter engine immobilizer and Suzuki’s HEARTEC platform which promises higher rigidity. All these safety features will be standard across the range.
The feature list will expand as we move up in the variant hierarchy. Some key features being offered in 2017 Dzire are: burl wood finish accents on dash, LED projector headlamps, daytime running lamps, precision cut alloys, leather wrapped steering wheel, reverse parking sensors with camera, day-night IRVM, Suzuki’s Android auto and Apple car play enabled smartplay infotainment system with steering mounted audio and telephony controls, engine Start-Stop button, automatic climate control with rear vent, electrically adjustable and foldable rearview mirror, gear shift indicator etc.
Understanding the importance and the need of an automatic gearbox, the company will offer efficient and cost effective Auto Gear Shift system as an option across the range, a first of its kind offering for the company. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will have 5-speed ratios.
The new HEARTEC platform will help this compact sedan to shed its weight by upto 100 kg. This reduced weight will enable the car to be more powerful (significantly higher power to weight ratio) and efficient despite being equipped with an existing set of engines.
In its third iteration, for the first time, Dzire takes the lead and will be launched well ahead of its hatchback sibling. Slick front, side profile full of character and well integrated and neat looking boot makes this car stand out from the crowd. Also, generous use of chrome and wooden insert inside out gives this car a premium touch. This takes Dzire dangerously closer to Maruti’s premium sedan – the Ciaz, in terms of look, feel and premiumness. Hence we saw company shifting the elder sibling under the NEXA umbrella.
As always, expect Maruti Suzuki to launch Dzire at the mouth watering price tag which will enhance the value for money quotient. We expect the range-topping manual transmission, Z+ variant to be priced just above Rs. 10 lakh mark, while its automatic variant will touch the Rs. 11 lakh mark.
With the addition of two new shades – Oxford Blue and Sherwood Brown, Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be available in 6 color options.
Increased wheelbase of 2450 mm and bigger boot of 378 liters enhances the practicality of this compact sedan.
Well, that’s all we know at this moment about this all-new 2017 Maruti Suzuki Dzire. But wait for few more hours and every fine detail will be revealed. Stay tuned!
