Maruti Suzuki Swift is the only B2 segment hatchback which challenges the market leader – the Maruti Suzuki Alto, in monthly sales figures every now and then. There is no need of explaining the popularity of this hatchback, as every kid in the farthest town of India knows this Suzuki kid. After ruling the Indian market for two generations, Swift is now ready to evolve into more mature and interesting product. Recently, some images from dealer presentation were leaked giving us all a good understanding of this upcoming 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Team IndianAutosBlog has rendered the new Swift based on these leaked images. Even in its third generation, the car seems to carry forward the signature silhouette. Customers would find easy to recognize it and can easily connect with the success story which Swift has written in Indian car industry. Front end retains sober lines but will get highlighting elements like chrome eyelids in headlights and DRLs above fog lamp. Move to the sides and floating roof design and missing rear door handles, which actually are hidden in C-pillar, will draw your attention. There are two alloy wheel designs available out of which one resembles with that of current Swift. Roofline and shoulder line highly resemble with existing Swift but the tail end is comprehensively revised with bigger taillights and gets tailgate with kink.
Expect Maruti to introduce new power plants under the hood – at least an all new diesel mill. The homegrown 1.5 liter diesel engine could make its debut with this car. The petrol engine doing the duty could be the reworked 1.2 liter K-Next unit and down the line 1.0 liter Boosterjet unit may also find its home under the hood of some special edition of this car. This next generation Swift will be launched in next calendar year followed by its compact sedan sibling. Pricing will also remain a key factor this time because company has to avoid cannibalization with Baleno, when launched.
Cabin grows more mature with simple lines flowing all over. Not the new flat bottom steering wheel.
