Aston Martin Cygnet Car at Geneva Motor Show

In an effort to ward off pressure from err…pressure groups, British sportscar makers Aston Martin debuted the Cygnet city car at the Geneva show. Nestled firmly between the Vantages and the DB9s, the Cygnet sure looked like an Aston thanks to the signature grille.

Reports of an Aston Martin city car based on the dimensions of the Toyota iQ first emerged in June last year and since then, a couple of commercials have been doing the rounds as well. So what’s this pressure we were on about, good sir? Well, through the Cygnet, Aston Martin is on an endeavour to reduce overall CO2 emissions.

While we can’t make sense of the Cygnet and how it represents Aston’s hard-won brand value, we were surely impressed by the signature Aston quality, outside and inside. We are not sure about what powers the Cygnet but we’re guessing it to be a similar 3 pot washing machine motor that powers the iQ.

We think it doesn’t look all that bad and that it’s somewhat in the same department as the FIAT 500 Abarth. We sure hope it goes like it too!
