Audi A7 Sportback: To be unveiled on July 26, 2010
You can call it a notchback or fastback in Chevy style. But it’s a sportback, as Audi calls it. Yeah, a sportback or notchback or fastback is the same sloping roof that joins to the edge of the boot. It is also a Grand Tourer or GT. Now Audi has brought a sportback 2+2 door saloon to be positioned in between A6 and A8. Sounds good, as the interior of the car must be exquisite piece of comfortable package with lots of space inside. Also the exterior should be less resistant to air because of the aerodynamically sloping roof effect.
The news is Audi is going to launch the A7 on July 26, 2010. It is based on the audi A7 concept shown in the earlier motor shows. This A7 is manufactured on Audi’s modular longitudinal build kit (LBK) on which the A8 is also based, making it larger in size than the A6 saloon.
The new A7 is expected to have a 3.0l V6 gasoline engine with 268 bhp and a 4.2l V8 developing 372 bhp of power. A 3.0l engine capable of 250 bhp and a 4.2-liter V8 for 350 bhp are the diesels which will have enormous torque and good fuel economy. The special S version will boast a newly developed supercharged 3.0l V6 or possibly a 4.8l V8. Further more on the top of the line the RS7 version is expected to feature a V10 580 bhp engine.
This is a new entry for audi into the four-door Grand Tourer market, so the new fastback will face competition from the Mercedes Benz CLS and BMW 5 Series GT.
