AUDI India Records 66 percent YTD growth in Aug; To Launch New models and start 2nd Shift
The youngest and certainly the most appealing luxury brand in the Indian automotive market – AUDI has created yet another record. The company sold 1876 cars from January – August 2010 and has surpassed its last year’s annual sales of 1658 car units The company has recorded a growth of 66 percent over the same period in 2009 (1128 units, Jan – Aug 2009). Audi India recorded sales of 250 cars in August 2010, a 46 percent growth over August 2009 sales (171 units).
“Having successfully surpassed last year’s annual sales performance, we are confident that this consistent growth which Audi India has been witnessing through 2010 will help us achieve our goals for the year. Our exceptional sales performance is attributed to the growing number of customers who truly appreciate Audi’s endeavor to offer world-class products that reflect luxury par excellence. In line with our philosophy of ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’, Audi is committed to set new benchmarks in the auto industry by enhancing the entire experience of owning a luxury automobile in India,” said Michael Perschke, Head – Audi India.
Speaking on manufacturing constraints and high demands Audi India Head Michael Perschke said, ”Seeing the demand that we are having for our products, I think that we will have to start the second shift at our plant. Our production from the plant will be exceeding 3,000 units next year,” .
The car maker is also considering the launch of luxury sedan A7 and will initiate a market study for the same. Commenting on the launch of new models he said, ”We will also launch a completely new A8 and a 4.2 litre TDI version of Q7. These two cars will be imported.”
Audi India is focused on strengthening its national footprint and recently announced the opening of dealerships in Kolkata and Bangalore. The company is also looking to open new showrooms in Delhi, Mumbai (West), Jaipur, Chennai and Ludhiana soon.
