2011 Audi R8 GT: Tuners MTM create a 225mph R8

The autosphere has been whizzing with rumours of Audi planning a hotter version of the R8 sports car. But it is actually the tuners MTM who are working on the ‘R8 GT’, I know it sounds a bit nerdy, but this is what guys at MTM like to call it.

As reported by Auto Express, the R8 GT is not an Audi test mule but actually, is a creation of the tuners MTM. It will be powered by a 552bhp, 5.2 lt V10 garnished with two turbochargers. The car was recently spied at the Nurburgring undergoing rigorous testing on the Nordscheilfe.

The new go-faster R8 comes with a whole lot of changes on the exterior as well. It gets some orange stripes for a kick-off, a front splitter and humongous air intakes. Underneath you get racing brakes and large twin exhausts. 0-62mph is over in under 3secs and the car goes on to a top speed of 225mph. Certainly, this won’t be the car of choice for the daily school runs.

So all you hardcore Audi fans, better get your checkbooks ready because this car will cost around £160,000.
