BMW To Come Up With 4-Cylinder Engines
BMW 4-Cylinder turbocharged engine
German Auto master Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) is all set to make a comeback in 4 cylinder segment vehicles. The reason behind this might be to increase the efficiency of their vehicles.
BMW will be entering the 4 cylinder range after more than 13 years. The new 4 cylinder inline engine will have twin-scroll turbocharging, direct injection and BMW’s valvetronic technology( technically called as variable valve timing system). This will be a 2.0 litre powerplant producing 240 horsepower and a torque of 260 pounds-feet. BMW’s naturally aspirated 3.0 litre 6 cylinder engines are found currently in the 3-Series.
BMW has not yet revealed anything about the vehicles in which these engines will be installed. The favourites for this modification are BMW 1-Series and 3-Series. Mercedes too has introduced their 201 horsepower 4 cylinder engine installed in their 2012 SLK roadster and C-class. Since 1997, Audi has been offering their 4 cylinder heart in their A4. BMW’s engines are expected to come out on the roads in 2011.
