Porsche’s ground-breaking hybrid supercar stole the limelight during the Geneva auto show early this year. Back then, Porsche maintained that it was just a concept and will not make it to production any soon. The general public response was positive and became an instant hit. Since then, Zuffenhausen has received 1000 letter of interest from potential customers.

Porsche has finalized an official launch at Pebble Beach, California. However, “when?” is the big question. Porsche has already given the go-ahead for the production of the 918. Why Porsche chose Pebble Beach for its launch is quite obvious. Recently, Bugatti showcased their new versions of the Veyron here.
The car showcased at Geneva had a 500bhp V8 coupled to two electric motors. This combination resulted in an astonishing gross output of 718bhp.
Porsche boss Michael Macht was only happy to admit that the car will see the light of the day, amidst the superb response. “There is no one inside Porsche who doesn’t want to build the 918,” he said. “
