Bridgestone India’s Second Plant To Come Up At Chakan

Bridgestone, the leaders in Tyre technology, are setting up their second manufacturing facility at Chakan. The company will invest Rs 2,600 Crore for this project in a phased manner.

Started in 1998, its present plant located at Pithampur Industrial Area near Indore manufactures car tires. They have acquired 8.288 million sq. ft. at the Chakan Industrial Area for their new plant. The plant will produce Passenger Car Radial Tyres (PSR) by January 2013 and Truck Bus Radial Tyres (TBR) by August 2013.

The company will be producing 10,000 PSR and 3,000 TBR daily by the year 2020.

Bridgestone India Managing Director, H Tanigawa said, “India is growing rapidly, and its potential seems to be unlimited. Therefore, our decision to establish the company’s second tyre production is in response to the ever increasing demand in the Indian market”.
