Chevrolet has released the first images of the hatchback version of its popular Cruze sedan. The car will be showcased at this years Paris motor show.

The company has said that, the new car will share the same powertrain as its sedan cousin. Cargo capacity for the Cruze hatchback is close to 400 litres and will feature 60/40 split rear seating.

Wayne Brannon, president and managing director of Chevrolet Europe said the potential for meeting customer demand is significant.

“We are selling [the Cruze] in 70 countries around the world and it has recently surpassed the Aveo as our top-selling passenger car nameplate globally.”

The new Cruze hatchback will go on sale in Europe mid-2011. We are hoping to see this car in India soon.

if launched in india, it will be pricey, maybe around 10-11L which is too expensive for Indian hatches
hence it will not get enough quantities, like Chevy SRV launch 5-6 yrs ago, when hatch market in india did not mature for a hatch for 7lakh,
Chevy will not repeat the same mistake, they have learned from their experience.

BTW, i love hatches and will be happy to buy it. but for 10-11L i will be confused over this or a sedan
