We all talk about safety, the companies talk about safety, Government organizations talk about safety but where is it? All the companies just use safety as their marketing strategy or are they really safe? Recent recalls have raised many questions on the safety issues of major automotive companies.

In a fresh recall, Chrysler has recalled 40,131 of its vehicles over the issue of defective ignition switch which could allow the key to be removed from the ignition without the automatic transmission being in park. Affected by the recall are the 2010 Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Dodge Ram, Jeep Commander and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

In a notice filed with NHTSA, chrysler has explained,

“The result of the defect could lead to a condition where the key may be removed from the ignition switch (win module) prior to placing the shifter in park. This could result in the potential for unintended vehicle movement and could increase the risk of a crash.”

Chrysler determined the fault on 6th of May and notified the NHTSA, yesterday. NHTSA officially announced the recall with the official repairs set to begin in July.

NHTSA has been instrumental in all these recent recalls in USA as it has tightened its grip on all the automotive companies over safety issues.

What about India?

Here is my question “Are all the vehicles manufactured in India supersafe? or its just our government who overlooks the problem because human life is not worth considering?”
