Daimler Recalls Mercedes Benz E-Class, C-Class in USA due to Steering Problems
Daimler`s US unit is recalling 2010 Mercedes Benz C-Class and the 2010 and 2011 E-Class CoupĂ© and Cabriolet models in the US. Daimler reported to The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the steering systems in the cars “may fail due to the loss of power steering fluid,” and could lead to a vehicle crash. According to the report, a connection fitting on the high-pressure power steering line is not working well and is likely that a leakage could occur in the power-steering fluid.
According to the company, the owners may not have sufficient control of the vehicle under circumstances sucha as parking where maximum power steering is required.The adjustment is aimed to prevent the loss of power steering fluid, The Wall Street Journal said, citing a statement on the website of U.S. traffic authority NHTSA. According to the spokesperson of Daimler, company will recall cars in other countries too but he did not give any further details. The recall will begin on october 20th and the adjustment will be done free of cost at the dealership.
