You all must have heard the news of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s stolen last-generation WagonR. While the social media was flooded with not only news stories but also memes of the politician’s blue tall-boy, Datsun India thought it’s a good chance to target the Maruti Suzuki WagonR with a tweet that read: “Sorry for your loss, sir. It’s time to shift to a real Aam Aadmi Car. Car Lao, Be-Car Nahi”. There was also a screengrab from the latest TVC of the Redi Go which had a caption that read: “Car, Yes, Be-Car (Useless), No”.
This is certainly not the first time that Datsun India has decided to target Maruti Suzuki. The company used the same tactics back when it came up with its first ever TVC. The TVC features Ayushmaan Khurana and Alok Nath (aka Sanskaari Babuji). It shows how various avatars of Alok, all of which drive a Maruti Suzuki, get impressed by a Datsun Go, which was being driven by Ayushman. The company went on to assert that their model offered more space, mileage and power.
Whatever Datsun India says, one simply can’t ignore the fact that the WagonR has been among the country’s largest selling car since a lot of time now. Thanks to its fairly spacious interior, high mileage, decent engine and Maruti’s vast service network, this tallboy has made a huge impact on the market. In comparison, the Redi Go 1.0, which went on sale earlier this year, offers same power, a bigger boot, and more looks more stylish. However, the car buyers are yet to become to fond of Datsun offerings. This has a lot to do with the fact that their cars feel built to a cost. Plus, Datsun doesn’t enjoy the wide service network that Maruti Suzuki does. Anyway, here are full details on the Datsun Redigo 1.0:
