Unveiled at the 2016 Bangkok Motor Show in March, the Chevrolet Trailblazer Premier was seen testing in India for the first time ever.
With the Trailblazer Premium, Chevrolet has gone upmarket and inline with the design language seen on the Colorado pickup and other SUVs sold globally.
Compared to the existing model available in India, it gets a revised front with a split grille and LED headlamps, bumper and housing of fog lamps is changed. The grille receives a generous dose of chrome which is appreciated in the Indian market. The side and rear profile largely remain unchanged. The alloy wheels have received an update, though it needs to be seen whether it will come with the massive 22-inch wheels when launched.
Chevrolet has upped the game significantly inside the cabin as it comes with dual tone finish on the dashboard which comes with a touchscreen. The 8-inch infotainment system with MyLink tech that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The seats receive premier treatment as it comes with piping and hand stitched back nets.
The safety features include surround airbags, ABS, EBD, electronic stability control, brake assist system, hill descent control, traction control, hill start assist and rear parking assist with a camera. It will be loaded with goodies like light sensitive interior rear-view mirror, cruise control, rear-view camera, electronic climate control, projector headlights, leather upholstery, multifunction steering wheel and electrically adjustable driver’s seat.
India is likely to get the range topper 2.8-litre DURAMAX engine which produces 200 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission as seen in the spy shot of the interior. The SUV is currently offered in a rear wheel drive configuration in India. With the Trailblazer Premier, we hope the company offers an AWD option.
