Tata Nano

The Tata Nano was launched in 2008 amidst great expectations amongst the Indian public. People clamored to book the Tata Nano and within no time, Tata Motors found itself sitting on a huge pile of bookings. Mamata Banerjee however had other plans and she threw a spanner in Tata Motor’s plans to build a greenfield manufacturing facility for the Tata Nano in Singur, West Bengal. Stoically, Ratan Tata bid adieu to Singur into the welcoming arms of Sanand, Gujarat.

Since then, work in on at full swing to ready the Sanand plant which will start producing the Nano, sometime in 2010. Amidst all this, Tata Nanos are being assembled currently at Pimpri and Pantnagar, Uttaranchal. Now, Rajiv Dubey, the president of the cars division of Tata Motors has come out and said that all customers who have booked the Nano can take deliveries by December 2010. This statement was made during the launch of the Sumo Grande Mark II. With 1.55 lakh customers in line for the Tata Nano, Tata needs to produce almost 13,000 units of the Nano every month to meet this demand.
