Fiat to revive Palio hatchback in India?

2012 Fiat Palio rendering

Fiat India has had the Palio hatch on the price list. However, even this car failed to elevate Fiat as a brand in the Indian customers minds. The Palio was discontinued in 2010 due to change in emission norms. Fiat now need to get their act together and introduce a small car that will fill the gap that has been created in the under 4.5 lakh segment of the market.

The Palio could be the best bet for the company as of now. We have always maintained that, to survive in the Indian auto market, a small car is the most essential ingredient in the recipe of success. A brand new Palio with peppy, fuel efficient engines could just be the car that could change tides for Fiat India.

The Tata-Fiat co-operation has lead to satisfying customer needs in terms of after sales service. Fiat has gained substantially from the alliance, mainly due to Tata’s presence in the market.

Its about time, Fiat undertake a thorough overhaul of the last Palio, not just in terms of greener and fuel-efficient engines but also quality. The earlier Palio Multi-jet diesel had a terribly built interior and then there was the relentless din from the oil-burner.

Completely agree with the post. I love the Palio, specially the sports version and had one myself.. But after sales service was where I had to decide not to fo got Fiat again.. With Tata in the picture, things got better.. but still needs a complete overhaul of the brand..I stumbled upon Fiat 500 Twin air and the pricing is just not right for the Indian market.. I think Fiat India has to start to re-think from scratch.. Just an opinion. Thanks for the post! :)

Its nice. Fiat vehicles are just superb. But they don’t have Sales & Service in all Towns. At least they should have it where Tata passenger car showrooms are there.
