Ford India Car sales treble in Aug 2010; Figo Hatch gets 34,000 bookings

Ford India has recorded a three-fold jump in its sales for the month of August this year as compared to last year. The car maker has reported a total sales of 7,925 units. Their latest offing Figo has been doing wonders for the company and has received over 34,000 bookings in the last 25 weeks.

“The Figo phenomenon continues, and in addition to strong sales in India, we are excited about the opportunity to export this success to other markets around the world,” Ford India President and Managing Director Michael Boneham said.

“The recent shipment to South Africa and more markets around the world next year, adds a new international chapter to the Figo success story,” he added.

Following the first shipment of India-built Figo to South Africa in May, the compact car will be exported to 50 new markets including Mexico, North Africa and the Middle East from next year, the company said.
