American carmaker, Ford is reportedly tinkering with the list of features present on its immensely popular compact SUV in the Indian market, the Ford EcoSport.
The EcoSport is set to receive a new 8-inch touch screen infotainment system, which will make way into the top-of-the-line Titanium+ variant of the car. It will bring along a price increase of Rs. 20,000 to the ex-showroom price of both diesel and the petrol trims of the SUV, which would now retail at Rs. 10,19,000 and Rs. 9,89,000 ex-showroom, Delhi respectively.
The touch screen infotainment system will see its screen mounted at the center of the dashboard, above AC vents and the system will also provide door ajar warning, as well as Bluetooth connectivity with it.
The company would introduce this as an option and prospective customers who pre-book it, will get the infotainment system installed in their cars by Ford’s subsidiary ‘Vehicle Personalization Centre’, operating out of its manufacturing facility in the south-Indian city of Chennai.
The EcoSport with this addition, shall instantly gain a little more momentum as this is the only downer it faces in front of the Brezza, which comes loaded to the gills in its top-of-the-line ZDi+ trim.
Apart from this major addition, Ford has also brought in a slew of feature cuts on the 2017 production cars, which will lead to the omission of some premium touches, such as leather wrapped gearshift knob, leather wrapped handbrake, front seat armrest, lumbar support, chrome scuff plates and cooled glove box from across the variants.
Also, the Trend trim will now lose out on important features such as the rear defogger, height adjustable driver’s seat, 60:40 split seats, vanity mirror and rear reclining seats. The Trend+ variant will now sport black roof rails instead of silver ones and both Trend and Trend+ trims will now only get a fixed rear central headrest.
The company is also working towards bringing in the facelift of the EcoSport into the Indian market by around Diwali this year.
