EN-V: GM gives a glimpse of future mobility with New Electric Concept Car
General motors announced to unveil its much anticipated EN-V concept in Shanghai Motor Show starting 1 May.
EN-V stands for Electric Networked vehicle. It was shown yesterday at Shanghai, it involves two-wheeled, two-seater electric cars which are able to navigate automatically via traffic while connecting passengers to their desirable social network.
It utilizes global positioning system, which makes navigating through the traffic easy, as it communicates with different vehicles to find the least congested routes. According to GM, the EV-N claims to be more energy efficient, safer, easier to drive and navigate through crowded streets.
It is propelled by electric motors powered by lithium-ion battery, which is installed in its wheels. The battery can be recharged from any normal electric outlet in walls.

According to Kevin Wale, president of the GM China Group, EN-V renovates the automobile, i.e. it creates a new car DNA by means of the convergence of electrification as well as connectivity. It is considered to be an ideal solution that is used for urban mobility that will use no petroleum and more important, it will be free from emissions.
Each is said to be less than five feet long and weigh less than 1100 pounds, owing to the use of carbon fiber, Lexan, and acrylic. Within that diminutive footprint, the EN-Vs are said to pack enough interior volume for two people and “light cargo.”
Though we jest about these vehicles and see them only in movies, but these concepts are cool and will be very successful in markets of Asia where commuters use bike more frequently and the traffic condition are worse. We all want to see a congestion free traffic and reduced emission, hope these futuristic cars make it happen very soon.
