Hero Moto might be the new name under which Hero minus Honda will operate!
After Hero split with it’s long time Japanese partner Honda, a while ago, the Hero Honda brand name too got split into two. Now, it seems that Hero could add a Moto, and end up creating a new brand name to sell it’s motorcycle range. Called Hero Moto, the new brand name could be what Hero decides to go with when it commences the re-branding exercise of it’s entire range of motorcycles, for which it has already commissioned a PR agency.
While the Hero Moto moniker isn’t yet a certainty, it somehow sounds lousy to say the least, if it indeed is what the folks at Hero have come up with. Apparently, the Hero group has already submitted the new moniker to the registrar of companies and would commence the re-branding exercise once the government agency gives it’s approval to Hero for going ahead with the name change.
Meanwhile, we did some snooping around to find whether the Hero group indeed has finalized the Hero Moto name by registering an online domain as is the standard practice by big firms before re-branding activity or any new product launch. We found that some smart alec, who probably has latched on to the name change rumors doing the rounds has quite coincidentally registered the heromoto.in domain on 17th of May.
So, at least from an online perspective, the Hero group hasn’t yet shown any presence of the Hero Moto brand name yet. So, if indeed the Hero Moto rumors are to be believed, the Hero group might have to shell out a pretty penny to the smart alec who has already registered the Hero Moto domain name. All said and done, Hero Moto CBZ X-treme anybody? Duh, how pathetic can a name really get? We think that a mere Hero will do instead of all these cartoonish monikers. What say, Hero?
