Infact the name ‘motorcycle’(motorrad in german) was first applied to this bike. It is powered by a 1488 cc twin cylinder motor, although a large engine it produced only 2.5 HP at 240 rpm. The top speed was around 30 mph an exciting prospect at a time when powered road transport of any sort was still a fantasy. This is that motorcycle which brought the technology which is still being used, things such as Twin-cylinder, 4 valve and water cooler were introduced with this bike.
Bonhams 1793 Ltd one of the world’s oldest and the third largest and fastest-growing auction house in the world is delighted to feature this amazing motorcycle at The International Classic MotorCycle Show, Stafford(England) on 25th April 2010.
The one which is to be auctioned in Stafford is a ‘barn find‘ which was under the sheets for almost 80 years now.Imagine a bike of this caliber being dumped in a barn, shed or where ever and the owner not knowing the worth of it.The motorcycle is estimated to fetch anywhere between 40,000 to 60,000 pounds.
