It was Jay Leno a few days ago and now, the venerable Royal Enfield Bullet in Classic 500 guise seems to have caught the fancy of the makers of the Bollywood movie, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, where the super popular Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif is seen riding a Royal Enfield. Miss Kaif on the Bullet is sure to create more than a few waves when the movie does release in India later this year as Bollywood actresses riding motorcycles is still something uncommon with the last Bollywood actress on a motorcycle, being the unconventional Gul Panag, who also incidentally rode a Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark in her movie Turning 30.

All helmeted up(Now, that’s a refreshing change), Katrina Kaif rides the Classic 500 in scenic Spain and the first images of the star on the Royal Enfield have been released by the promoters of the movie, Eros International, in what looks like a buzz building move for the movie. Talking of buzz, Royal Enfield is one brand around which plenty of buzz has been built over the past year or so and much credit must be given to the tireless efforts of Royal Enfield’s marketing department who always seem to be trying to engage Royal Enfield buyers and other motorcyclists alike with clever use of social media.

This is something that many more automakers could take a leaf out of and replicate it themselves for better buyer engagement, especially motorcycle manufacturers in India, who have minimal or non active presence across social media networks like Facebook and Twitter. Despite being a small motorcycle firm with limited resources, Royal Enfield has successfully managed to make full use of social media and the current buzz around the Royal Enfield brand looks like a direct effect of Royal Enfield’s efforts. Now, if only Royal Enfield could quickly ramp up production capacity and cut the massive waiting periods of 6-8 months for it’s classic range of motorcycles, which has come to become the big party pooper for prospective Royal Enfield buyers.
