British luxury SUV marque, Jaguar Land Rover has introduced an all new diesel motor into its mid-size SUV offering in the Indian market, the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
The SUV, which used to come with a 2.2-litre diesel engine hitherto, now sees the engine being replaced by the ubiquitous 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine, which now makes its presence in the entire Jaguar Land Rover range in the country.
The prices for the updated Land Rover Discovery Sport now range between Rs. 50.72 to Rs. 59.81 lacs ex-showroom, Delhi.
The 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine is capable of producing 177 BHP of power and comes mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The power is transmitted to all four wheels.
The unique bit about the Ingenium series engine is that these engines are up to 20 kilograms lighter than the regular engines and also boast of high technology, like having a computer controlled adaptive engine cooling and also having a variable geometry turbocharger.
The Discovery Sport also gets a 2.0-litre Si4 petrol motor, which comes only on the HSE trim of the SUV and the engine is capable of churning out 237 BHP of power and 340 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 9-speed gearbox.
The company also recently introduced a petrol engine to its 2017 avatar of the Range Rover Evoque. The refreshed 2017 Range Rover Evoque was launched in the country just recently and JLR has now brought in this 2.0-litre petrol engine offering, which comes at a price tag of Rs. 53.20 lacs ex-showroom, Delhi.
The 2017 Range Rover Evoque gets a lot of design changes upfront, with a new front bumper, which now hosts wider air dams. The grille is also updated and the front of the vehicle also gets adaptive headlamps, which are full LED units, which come with integrated Day Time Running Lights or DRLs as well.
