Made in India Land Rovers coming soon
Land Rover Freelander 2
The fast growing Indian luxury SUV market, primarily dominated by AUDI, has tempted many big car makers into this segment. One of which, Land Rover, is planning to attack the segment head on with locally assembled Freelander 2. The move will see Freelander’s sticker price to come down to around Rs 25 lac which is currently at Rs 34.7 – Rs 43.9 lac in Mumbai.
The British brand has plans to bring the cars in Completely Knock Down(CKD) kits and assemble it in Tata Motors Pune plant that was earlier used by Mercedes Benz. The plant has a capacity to assemble around 3,500 vehicles per year. Land Rover will also use Tata Motors’ paint shop for the Freelander 2.
