Lithium ion power for the 2011 Toyota Prius
2010 Toyota Prius Concept
Toyota’s best selling hybrid car, the Toyota Prius is all set to get lithium ion power in it’s next upgrade in 2011, when it also will see a Minivan version of it being rolled out. Both the sedan and minivan versions of the Prius will receive the lithium ion power at a modest price hike. The lithium ion batteries which will replace the conventional zinc acid batteries are expected to result in a weight drop that will enable a lighter, quicker Prius.
The new battery set will also give the Prius an improved range, thus further heightening the appeal of the Prius Hybrid. What car buyers across the world will anticipate, is the Minivan version of the Prius Hybrid that will seat seven adults in comfort.
While the lithium ion Prius Hybrid might make it to Indian shores, we are a little doubtful about the Minivan seeing an Indian launch in 2011 as the Indian MUV space is an extremely price sensitive market segment that still is dominated by frugal diesels.
