Mahindra’s premium SUV to debut in 2011
Mahindra & Mahindra has come a long way from the days of the spartan jeeps and utilitarian Armadas.
The Scorpio has turned around the image of the company to that of a capable SUV manufacturer who can give the competition some good reasons to worry. Mahindra has always proved itself to be a manufacturer who doesn’t believe in resting on the laurels of its success.
The Xylo, the Scorpio upgrades and the Bolero variants are evidences of their quest for improved vehicles. The new announcement from M&M re-emphasizes their no-way-but-forward stand.
At the inauguration of Mahindra’s new plant at Chakan, Dr. Pawan Goenka let out the news that the company is working on a brand new SUV codenamed W201. The SUV will be the first M&M vehicle to be manufactured with a monocoque construction and will cater to Indian as well as foreign markets.
At a price tage north of Rs. 10 lakhs, the W201 will also be a good option for Scorpio owners to scale up to.
Expect the biggie to enter the market in the closing months of 2010 or in early 2011. M&M is considering US as its major export market for the W201. Powered by the proven mHawk engine the SUV will be available in manual and automatic transmission.

i bought four scorpios in just three years by upgrading to the new editions always including the recently released special edition !
and am looking for the thar off_roader to be available in indian markets to add that too !

Mahindra new upcoming SUV w201(codename) has 2.2 CRDe engine same as scorpio, but has more RPM and torque then scorpio, surprising!!! This SUV is based for luxury segment, so expect some beautiful curves, the roughness and raw scorpio thing will be missing, its gonna be smooth, It’d have 6 speed gear box, and sitting would be 2+3+2, expect dual AC, a lot better interiors and features. Company is still discussing on price, but It would be between 14.5 to 17 something, W201 ‘d be racing against TOYOTA Fortuner, TATA Merlin and Aria, Pajero, Honda CR-V, etc… Final testing is done in Mahindra City Chennai and vehicle is in production, Mahindra May Launch VEHICLE ANY-DAY NOW!!!! we expect this vehicle in early second quarter of this year….
