Our friends, over at jalopnik.com recently reported about the Mahindra Scorpio being tested in the United States. Last week, Mahindra cleared one set of U.S. regulations for selling its diesel-powered pickup in the United States.

A diesel Scorpio was spotted by a reader in Tennessee earlier this month. The SUV was pulling a trailer and was followed by two other support vehicles.

Mahindra has earlier said that it wanted to bring the seven-passenger Scorpio to the United States, and showed off a diesel-electric hybrid version at the 2008 SAE conference in Detroit.

The model scene here is equipped with an auto-box. I wonder why it says “LEFT HAND DRIVE” even in America.

wow, it is finally comin to usa. i own it in india and man this thing has great pickup and looks really great. the interior is roomy but the handling is jus awesome. you actually have to drive it and be amazed at the mileage it gives you with the diesel engine and the power output it has is wicked. i will definately be buyin if it comes here to canada i’ll jus have to wait and find out i guess…..
