Maruti Celerio Facelift launch to happen in October, Prices likely to remain much the same, New features expected for exterior and interior

Maruti is about to launch a facelift for the Celerio B1 hatchback. The facelift will launch alongside the Celerio Cross (X model) and will come with similarly updated exterior and interior. However, while the Cross will be a pseudo-crossover to take on the Kwid, the facelift will just bring along improvements to the current car. Prices of the new car are likely to start at Rs 4.4 lakh. Official launch date is yet to be disclosed but this is actually a very nice time to launch a new car and benefit from the festive rush. Spy images of the new car at a dealership yard have already leaked online. Here are full details on the new Maruti Celerio facelift launch and price.

Maruti Celerio Facelift Launch Date

Model Expected Launch Date
Celerio Facelift October 2017

The Celerio facelift will probably launch before Diwali this month. While the company is yet to officially announce the launch date, we are pretty sure it’s planning to take advantage of the festive rush and launch the updated car this month.

Maruti Celerio Facelift Price

Celerio Facelift Estimated Price
Minimum Price Rs. 4.40 lakh
Maximum Price Rs. 5.60 lakh

There are high chances that the prices of the Celerio won’t see much difference with the launch of the facelift. That said, the addition of new features will surely lead to a slight increase in price. We expect the base model to cost Rs 4.40 lakh. The top-end Z-level trim will cost Rs 5.60 lakh. The top-end model will have the most difference in price due to the addition of many new features like a touchscreen infotainment unit.

Maruti Celerio Facelift Specifications

Engine Type/ Displacement 1.0 L K-Series Petrol
Power 67 bhp
Torque 90 Nm
Transmission (Gearbox) 5 speed Manual/5 speed AMT

There will be absolutely no change in the specifications, that is the engine and transmission, of the new car. The Celerio will continue to offer two fuel options- Petrol and CNG. The engine on duty will be the same 1.0-litre K series engine that powers the current car. It produces 67 bhp and 90 Nm on petrol. It outputs only 59 bhp on CNG. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and offers an AMT as optional. The 800cc diesel engine won’t return with the revamped car. The said diesel engine was marred by low refinement, mediocre performance and high NVH. We don’t see this engine returning anytime soon.

Maruti Celerio Facelift Mileage

Celerio Facelift Estimated ARAI Mileage
Manual 24 KMPL
AMT Automatic 24 KMPL

As the specifications will remain the same, we think that even the mileage would be the same. Maruti has a habit to play with gear ratios and engine tuning to increase the mileage of facelifts a bit. Even if the same happens, only ARAI mileage will see a change. In real conditions, the mileage will be much the same as that of the current car. We say this as there won’t be any change in the maximum power and torque.

Maruti Celerio Facelift Features

One thing that is for very sure is that the facelift will come with a host of new features for both the exterior and the interior. The exterior will get a totally revised front fascia along with a new set of alloys and some new chrome highlights. The interior will also see some styling changes along with the addition of new features. It is said that safety features like airbag and ABS will be made standard across the trim. The ZXi level variant will get the very famous SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment unit. This is the same system taht is available on cars like the Baleno, Ignis, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross and Ciaz. Hence, its introduction in a cheaper car like the Celerio will be a major development. Here is the list of features that the new car will offer-

  • Power Steering
  • Power Windows
  • Central Locking
  • Electric Adjustment for ORVMs
  • Turn Indicators on ORVMs
  • Alloy Wheels
  • CNG Option
  • AMT Option
  • New Styling of Front Fascia
  • New Chrome Trim
  • High Quality Seat Covers
  • SmartPlay Touchscreen Infotainment

Maruti Celerio Facelift Exterior

The Celerio facelift will come with a host of styling updates that will freshen up the exterior. Most of these updates will be found in the front fascia of the car. The new Maruti Celerio facelift will have a thoroughly updated front-end that will come with a new bumper, new grille and new headlights. The grille will be devoid of any sort of chrome, which means the two chrome slats on the current car won’t be available anymore. Even the bumper will look bolder and will be similar in design to the one we have seen on the Celerio X. The side profile will remain unchanged and only difference, if any, may arise out of a set of new alloy wheels. The rear-end will be characterized by updated taillamps and a new bumper. Again, the bumper will look a lot like the one on the Celerio Cross (X model).

Maruti Celerio Facelift Interior

Even the interior will see a handful of changes. The seats will get a new upholstery that will be higher in quality. The dashboard will be made up of  higher quality materials. The trim for the dashboard will be also new. Other than all this, we are also expecting the centre console to get some changes. The top-end trim will get the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system. This is the same system that can be found on the top-end models of the Baleno, Vitara Brezza, Ignis, Ciaz and S-Cross. The inclusion of this touchscreen infotainment system will make the Celerio’s interior a lot more premium. Apart from all this, the new car will even become safer. This will be thanks to the addition of safety features such as ABS and airbags across all the trims of the car.
