New 2017 Maruti Ciaz Facelift debuts as the New Suzuki Alivio in China. India launch could happen as soon as this festive season with little change in prices, specs, and mileage.
Yes, the Maruti Ciaz 2017 facelift has been revealed, but there’s a catch here. Wait, we aren’t wasting your time for the car you see here is indeed the Ciaz facelift. However, it’s actually the new China-spec Suzuki Alivio, which is nothing but a re-badged Ciaz. Also, it’s for sure that this facelift will launch in India today. We expect the 2017 Maruti Ciaz facelift India launch to happen this festive seasons. Prices will remain more or less the same. Even the specs shouldn’t really change and hence, even the mileage won’t see any difference.
The 2017 Maruti Ciaz facelift comes with styling updates, mainly to its front-end. The car now has a new grille, which looks inspired by the Audi models of a couple of generations ago. There are even some changes to the interior, but definitely nothing major here. In India, the updated car will rival the 2017 Honda City and the new generation Hyundai Verna. We are not sure if the changes that the facelift brings would make the Ciaz any stronger against its two main rivals. But let’s just hope for Maruti’s sake that people would perceive this as an all-new model with enough freshness going for it. Rumours are rife that the car will even get a new 1.6-litre Petrol and a 1.5-litre Diesel engine but we don’t really see it happening anytime soon. Engines will be carried over from the current model.
New Maruti Ciaz Facelift Launch Date
New 2017 Maruti Ciaz
The new 2017 Ciaz will launch in India in October 2017. A festive season launch will make the Ciaz facelift benefit from the high demand for new cars during this festive period. Even the facelift of this popular sedan will be sold through Maruti’s Nexa premium car dealership network.
New Maruti Ciaz Facelift Price in India
Rs. 7.00 lakh
Rs. 10.00 lakh
The Maruti Ciaz now has increased competition not just from the Honda City but also from the all new Verna. However, we are not expecting any increase in price. In fact, the car could even become slightly cheaper to help it maintain an edge over all the other rivals. The Ciaz is on sale in five variants- Sigma, Zeta, Delta, Alpha and S. Out of these, we are not sure if the facelift would be available with the S trim right from the onset. The S trim is nothing but the RS trim.

New Maruti Ciaz Facelift Specs
Wheel Type and Size
Engine Type/ Displacement
1.4 L Petrol
1.3 L Diesel
While there are many rumours that the Ciaz facelift will get a 1.6-litre Petrol and a 1.5-litre Diesel, we don’t see it happening anytime soon. Instead, the car will continue to be on sale with the same set of engines. These engines will include a 1.3-litre Diesel and a 1.4-litre Petrol. The petrol engine offers an optional 4-speed automatic transmission. Otherwise, the petrol engine is available with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. The Diesel engine also offers a 5-speed manual. In comparison, the new Verna gets much more powerful engines that can be bought with either 6-speed manual or 6-speed diesel engines. However, we don’t see Maruti offering new transmission options with the new Ciaz facelift. As for the new petrol and diesel engines, they won’t launch before mid-2018. Both the new engines will help the Ciaz have a higher power to match the new Verna and the City.
New Maruti Ciaz Facelift Mileage
21 KMPL (MT)/19.5 KMPL (AT)
Maruti might get rid of the SHVS for the Diesel engine to make it cheaper. Unfortunately, the Diesel Ciaz now faces the highest taxation due to its hybrid credentials. Maruti might want to get rid of the mini hybrid system to make sure the car costs less.
