The success of cars like the Innova and Xylo, it is clear that more and more Indian customers are looking at MUV’s as their car of choice. The market for these vehicles has definitely increased over the years. Tata Motors will soon join the party with the Aria. Maruti Suzuki meanwhile, is chalking out its own plans of launching a brand new MUV at the 2012 Auto Expo

Maruti Suzuki R3 concept was showcased at the 2010 Auto Expo in Delhi. The R3 will be smaller than the Innova with a seating capacity of 6-7 people. It will be based on a extended and heavier SX4 platform and could come with the Swift’s 1.2 liter K-Series engine or the SX4’s 1.6 liter VVT engine. We might even see a Volkswagen diesel or the 1.3lt DDiS VGT.

Basically maruti’s suzuki R3 concept shown in Jan, 2010 in auto fair was nothing but dressed up OPEL MERIVA (New) which is launced in Europe this year and in UK as Vauxhall MERIVA. Inhouse design studio of maruti has just done slight redressing. People interested can see the OPEL & VAUXHALL website. may be its old association suzuki has taken help as same way wagon r & Slash/Ritz with slight change is sold under Vauxhall/ Opel AGILA

The vehicle looks great and I feel maruti should not delay going ahead with the production. Maruti does not have such vehicle and this would do wonders, if they keep the futurist looks.

Maruti R3 while be on road till mid of this year.And it would be going to be a great hit .It would leave all the MPV’s behind. becoz it has afordable cost,good looks,and good average.
