The adverts hint at the SLS AMG being a plane. Now, Mercedes has given wings to the err…gull-winged beauty with the SLS GT3 racer.

Aimed at attacking the BMW Z4 GT3 head-on, the SLS GT3, with its massive rear wing and gull-wing doors, looks like its about to take flight.

Helping it will be a revised version of Merc’s 6.2-litre V8 putting out around 600bhp. Like the road car, it’ll remain rear-wheel drive, but will get a sequential gearbox.

In addition to that can-be-spotted-from-space rear wing, the aero-pimping includes an equally steroidal diffuser, front splitter and bonnet.

The road version is priced at half a million pounds. We think you will be better off with the road-version.
