Michael Schumacher is back in F1, this time with Mercedes’s Brawn Racing

The legend is back but this time around he won’t be burning the racetracks in scarlet red. Yes, that is right, Michael Schumacher, the seven time world champion is back into F1 as a full time driver for the flash success outfit, Brawn Racing. Brawn Racing which now belongs to Mercedes have confirmed Michael Schumacher driving for them for the whole of 2010s F1 racing season. Michael Schumacher, who turns 41 the coming January will be the oldest driver on the current F1 grid and will earn a reported 6.2 million British pounds per year. Ross Brawn, the chief architect of most of Michael’s F1 wins will continue to be the team boss at Brawn Racing, the outfit he ultra successfully founded last year.
Reacting to this stunning comeback, former F1 champs and Michael’s arch rivals, Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill commented that the seven time world champ’s age wouldn’t be no barrier for his comeaback to the ultra competitive F1 racing circuit. Eddie Irvine, Michael’s erstwhile team mate at Ferrari was of the view that Michael will have difficulties going flat out and being competitive citing that the icon has been out of an F1 car for a long time now.

Earlier this year, Michael Schumacher aborted his F1 comeback at the last minute when the neck injury he sustained in a motorcycle racing crash threatened to act up. Michael Schumacher was in line to take the injured Felipe Massa’s Ferrari seat which was later filled up by long time Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer. Other observers have even gone of the extent of calling Michael Schumacher’s comeback a last ditch attempt by Bernie Ecclestone and co to bolster falling F1 viewerships across the world. Whatever may be the case, F1 fans across the world are waiting with bated breath for the season opener at Bahrain when the legendary Michael Schumacher will start off his 2010 F1 campaign with Nico Rosberg as team mate.
