TVS goes hybrid with the TVS Streak & TVS King

Saving the planet is the urgent need of the hour and Hosur based TVS Motor Company seems to know how exactly to do so.

So, the two wheeler maker is putting it’s money on hybrid vehicles and the TVS Scooty Streak Hybrid will be it’s first two wheeler to feature hybrid power. The Scooty Streak Hybrid is a scooterette that will feature a conventional four stroke engine ably complemented by a hub mounted electric motor.

Right from the TVS Victor motorcycle, TVS has been fiddling around with user selectable power-economy maps.

TVS Streak Hybrid – Modes Details:

Now, TVS is taking the game a step ahead with the Streak Hybrid featuring four four optional modes for users to choose from:-

1. Electric Only: For short trips and zero-fuel consumption
2. Engine Only: When battery SOC is very low
3. Hybrid Electric Mode: Both sources run as per the programmed strategy
4. Hybrid Power Mode: Both engine and electric together for better acceleration

If you’re gaping at all those modes, wait till you hear this. Regenerative braking makes it to the Scooty Streak Hybrid with the scooterette regenerating electric power every time the rider dabs the brake. Also, an idle stop mechanism will ensure that the Scooty Streak Hybrid automatically shuts off at traffic signals, springing to life as soon as you give the throttle the slightest twist.

All this will translate into a more efficient ride with TVS claiming to achieve 30 % lower CO2 emission, 25% HC + NO x reduction and 30 % improvement in fuel economy (all at IDC condition).

Watch out for the Scooty Streak Hybrid, which is all set to be showcased at the upcoming 2010 Indian Auto Expo.

TVS King Three Wheeler

Apart from the Streak hybrid, TVS Motors will also unveil a hybrid version of the King three wheeler at the Auto Expo. the TS King Hybrid will feature an electric engine complementing it’s 200cc low emission CNG engine.

With such three wheelers, Indians can now breathe easy as smoky and noisy three wheeled contraptions will soon become things of the past.
