Pagani Zonda C9 to be called ‘Huayra’

2011 Pagani Huayra supercar

2011 Pagani Huayra

According to an Italian website, Al Volante, Pagani has decided to call its upcoming Zonda successor the ‘Huayra’, whatever that is. Don’t think for a moment that a few hand-picked chaps from Pagani have come up with this collection of vowels and consonants to make a ridiculous word.

‘Huayra’ means ‘wind’ in Quichua—the native language spoken in mountainous regions of Ecuador. Now, don’t ask why they chose a word from a language unheard of by majority of the world population. Probably, exclusivity is what Pagani have in mind.

Until now, Pagani have been referring to the car as C9. From now on though, Huayra is what the world will call it as long as they can pronounce it right, obviously.
