Porsche plans to add new cars to its line-up
2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS
Porsche is mulling the addition of a new supercar to its line-up that will be placed above the top-of-the-line 911, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The new car will be placed above the GT2 RS and the 918 Spyder hybrid. Now, the 911 GT2 RS is priced at 237,600 euros while the 918 Spyder at 768,000 euros. The price difference between the two models is huge and could be filled with a model that would open a new segment in the Porsche line-up.
“We’re currently examining what options can be derived from this” hole in the product range, Bernhard Maier, Porsche’s sales chief, said at the manufacturer’s headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. “There already are initial ideas that look very promising on paper.”

2011 Porsche Panamera Diesel
The Porsche management is weighing in options to fill the gap in the supercar market. The initial concepts are already on paper and soon we could see the first concepts been turned into full size scale models. May be, Frankfurt could be the venue to showcase the car for the first time in front of the world media. Porsche will also launch the new 911 at the European expo followed by the Cayman and Boxster models later in the year.
The car could be combined with additional variants of the Cayman and Boxster as well as extended-wheelbase and convertible versions of the Panamera four-door coupe, Bernhard Maier, said in an interview.
The new Porsche 911 will have a much powerful engine mounted at the rear as always. The new car will also feature a seven speed manual gearbox for the first time. The new engine will be more fuel efficient and environment friendly. Another car that has been planned is a long wheelbase version of the Panamera saloon. A convertible version of the Panamera is also on cards. Mercedes Benz too has similar plans of a four seat convertible based on the Maybach.
