New premium Bentley model a possibility

Bentley’s current portfolio extends to just two models, Continental and Mulsanne. The VW owned British luxury brand has had been planning to expand its range to three models. First, it was speculated, that the company might go for a car that could be placed below the Continental. However, a cheaper option has now been ruled out by Bentley top brass.

There are no exact plans as to what type of car would roll off the manufacturing line. A premium SUV would be a better option making the Continental and Mulsanne less vulnerable to demand swings in the product cycles. New Bentley boss, Wolfgang Durheimer brings with him experience from Porsche which has had similar bi-product setup. The 911 and Boxter were the only two models in the company’s line-up. Porsche introduced the Cayenne SUV which helped hold sales more level.

Still, a Bentley SUV is just a speculation as no official details are available at the moment. But, prospects for a premium SUV to take on the Range Rover look positive.
