The long wait is finally over, sort of. The replacement for the current M5 will soon be available in showrooms across the world. Almost as inevitable as it may seem, the M5 follows the current F10 5-Series that was launched a few months back. The first prototypes are already on road as BMW starts testing at the Nurburgring in Germany.

We will surely miss the old 5.0lt, 507bhp, V10 that powered the E60 M5 which propelled this 4-door executive saloon from 0-100kph in 4.7sec. Now that was really quick for a car of its size. Rather, ‘Quick as a Ferrari’ will make more sense. However, the new F10 M5 won’t disappoint the speed freak inside you either. A car with a 4.4lt, twin-turbocharged V8 which will produce about 550bhp will definitely be faster than the old E60.

The M5 will come with a dual-clutch transmission instead of the 8-speed automatic and will feature start-stop to improve fuel economy and reduce CO2 emissions. The F10 M5 will make its debut at the Geneva Auto Show next March.
